I've been making these pies since I was a little kid.
My grandmother Alberta grew up on Cape Cod. She catered weddings for years and her cheesecake was always on the dessert bar. People would come back for seconds before the reception even started.
Every Christmas, the two of us would make 50, 60, sometimes 70 pies and give them away as gifts. Friends, neighbors, people from church. People used to say they had to contain themselves from eating the whole thing in one sitting.
Gram's gone now. But my sons and I are still making them out of our place in Lone Tree. Same recipes. Same pies. We're just finally charging for them.
"People used to say they had to contain themselves from eating it all in one sitting."
This has been a family tradition of ours for as long as we can remember. We hope eating our pies becomes a family tradition of yours.
